What a fantastic weekend!

It's 11pm, so I really should head to bed but I wanted to give a quick update on my wonderful weekend. I spent lots of time with my fantastic friend Cath in Sydney as we
- made THREE visits to the Lindt cafe
- had dinner at a fancy restaurant in Cockle Bay
- watched fireworks at Darling Harbour (I was quite impressed that they put on a fireworks display just because Cath and I were in town!)
- sat having drinks at a bar and chatted for hours
- attended the Stampin' Up! conference where Cath won a luck door prize (a gorgeous stamp set)
- walked to Star City to have dinner at a Thai restaurant which was no longer there! Walked back to Darling Harbour and had dinner at a nice Indian restaurant instead. The curry I ordered was delicious and had the added benefit of clearing out my sinuses. :)
- walked round and round Chinatown looking for a present for Dale (which I never found).
- shopped 'til we dropped at Miranda. Ouch, my aching feet!

Cath, thank you so much for a fantastic weekend. I am already planning the next one! Love you heaps! :D

Renovations - the finished product

And without further ado, may I introduce the new playroom/scraproom...

Here is the view from the old door. A line of bookcases divides the kids area from mine and serves as some very useful storage.

Ahhhhh... my IKEA storage cubes. How I love thee.

And the view across the room into my scrapbooking area. Bliss!

Off to make some cards now. Enjoy your weekend!

Finished a few layouts

On Saturday night I pulled out the pile of half-done layouts and got a few finished. To be honest a couple of them were challenging at the least! I'm not sure where I was heading when I started them and wasn't overly thrilled with how they turned out, but I figured I'd just finish them and move on. Enjoy!

Some weekend inspiration

Need a new bracelet? May I recommend this one:

Need an amazing, thought-provoking book to read? Seriously, you have to read this:

Need a new recipe? Give these a go. Cheap and tasty! Edited to add: Do yourself a favour though and don't microwave plastic containers, or use a 'microwave safe plastic bag' as stated on the link. Really, is there such a thing as microwave safe plastic? I don't think so!

Have a great weekend!

Learning something new

I love scrapbooking and cardmaking, but I decided it is time to stop being afraid of the unknown and try a few new crafts. So, enter crochet. Well if we are going to accurately describe last night's creative efforts it should be called 'enter small length of very tight rope that most certainly has no intention of allowing a crochet hook through it anywhere!'. Apparently also known as 'tension was a little tight'. LOL

I'm having fun trying something that I had written off as too hard for me. I'm thinking a lot more practice, a few more ropes and perhaps I'll get the hang of it.

Funny kid

Annie is at home sick today. Well she was sick this morning. Now she is in the loungeroom playing hide and seek - with her dummy! She puts the dummy on the lounge, walks away, puts her hands over her eyes and says 'Dummy hiding'. Then uncovers her eyes, says 'Where's dummy?' and runs over to it on the lounge shouting 'There you are!'. It all seems very exciting to her! :)

And because I don't have any photos to share, here are a few cards I created...
